NEW ORLEANS (press release) – St. James CARES announced its upcoming Community Health Fair and Block Party on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Historic St. James AME Church, located at 222 N. Roman St. Organizers share that this event is a vibrant extension of the church’s mission to be the hands and feet of God by meeting people where they are and serving with purpose.
This event will offer free health screenings, wellness education and family-friendly activities. In addition to medical professionals and service providers, the fair will include school supply giveaways, food distribution and community resource connections for individuals and families.
“We believe that ministry is more than Sunday mornings. It is about making a tangible impact in the lives of those around us,” said Dr. Demetrese D. Phillips, pastor of Historic St. James AME Church. “This event reflects our commitment to holistic care; spirit, body, and mind.”
The event is supported by a growing list of community partners and sponsors, all of whom share a collective goal of addressing health disparities, supporting families, and creating opportunities for connection and care.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information or to get involved, contact stjamescares1@gmail.com.
