Coming from a family of world travelers, I always enjoyed receiving postcards from abroad. The more exotic the better, of course, and often what made the postcard—and sometimes a letter—so special were the stamps. From a casual survey of my collection amassed over a number of years (not all shown here), it seems the more tropical the climate the bolder and brighter the colors, while more northern climes tended to be more austere. One regret, however, is that I have often forgotten to buy stamps for myself when I have gone on journeys to places such as Finland, Laos, Vietnam, Sweden, Denmark, France, the Dominican Republic and other amazing locales. But then again, I guess that means I have to go back to buy them.
