Stargazing

Drew Brees, Sean Penn, Blake Lively, Kevin Spacey, Randy Jackson and a slew of other celebrities were a few of the 1,200 guests that showed their support at Make it Right’s “A Night to Make it Right” charity gala on Saturday, March 10. Creator of Make it Right Brad Pitt and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres collaborated in hosting the star-studded gala at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.

The night began with a cocktail reception. Live music enticed guests with the spirit of New Orleans. A four-course seated dinner was coordinated by Chef John Besh and prepared by a handful of noteworthy chefs such as Emeril Lagasse and Donald Link. The gala’s entertainment included performances by Rhianna, Sheryl Crow, Seal and Dr. John, as well as an auction that featured specialty items donated by celebrities and artists, such as a guitar inscribed by the U2 singer Bono.

An after party immediately followed the gala. The comedian Aziz Ansari hosted the after party that included a top shelf open bar and door prizes. Kayne West, Seal, Snoop Dog and the Soul Rebels preformed for after party guests.

The event raised over $5 million, $1 million over their original goal, to assist in Make it Right’s creation of over 150 energy-efficient and storm-resistant homes in the Lower 9th Ward.
