Stars Shine

The City Stars Soiree honored six individuals who have made significant contributions to the New Orleans community. This year’s Rising Stars were: Brandon Berger, Principal of The Berger Company, who was introduced by Junior Achievement’s Hall of Fame Laureate Roger Ogden; Becker Hall, Co-Founder and Director Hogs for the Cause, who was introduced by Joseph Bruno Jr.; Deirdre Hooper, Co-Founder of Audubon Dermatology, who was introduced by Helena Moreno; Sarah Jackson, Co-Founder of Audubon Dermatology, who was introduced by Katy Casbarian; Bivian “Sonny” Lee III, Founder of Son of Saint who was introduced by Tamica Lee; and Erin Romney-Cazes, Owner of Romney Pilates, who was introduced by Brittany Brees.

The event featured a star-studded clear tent and dance floor, also reflected throughout the JA BizTown, a kid’s city. More than 25 local restaurants provided cuisine, with highlights including Galatoire’s turtle soup, beef tips from Mr. John’s Steakhouse, shrimp and grits from the Palace Cafe and seared yellow tuna from Celebrate! Catered Events by Windsor Court.

The auction included 180 items, including gift cards and wine baskets. The silent auction highlights included a pair of guest rides in the Orpheus parade, a two-night stay at Stewart Lodges at Steelwood in a 12-bedroom lodge and jewelry from Ramsey’s Diamond Jewelers.

Entertainment included music from The Wiseguys, a photo booth, a caricaturist, a tarot card reader and a performance by the 610 Stompers led by Brett Patron, a 2014 Rising Star.
