The world is chaotic right now and with the heat bearing down like a twisted cherry on top to the end of this weird summer, we suggest a vacation – or staycation – may be in order for couples having to once again change their wedding plans.
A few local hotels are offering guests Labor Day specials to entice them to spend a few days relaxing in the Big Easy.
The Eliza Jane Hotel not only is named after a kickass woman Eliza Jane Nicholson, the first female publisher of the New Orleans Times Picayune, but it’s also in a prime location of the city’s Central Business District (CBD). The 196-room hotel, which is home to French-inspired restaurant Couvant, is offering guests 25 percent off suites with their “Suite Life” offer. The hotel includes a fitness center, and a chic atrium lobby bar and lounge called The Press Room.
Aloft New Orleans Downtown has a hotel promotion to entice guests to extend their New Orleans weekend. Those guests that opt to stay for three nights can save up to 15 percent off their stay and those that stay four or more nights can save up to 20 percent when booking arrival for Thursday or Friday and staying through Sunday. Aloft is near the Caesars Superdome, Smoothie King Center and close to the historic French Quarter.
The Pelham Hotel offers guests with a love of history the perfect CBD hideaway. Located on Common Street right off of Magazine Street, The Pelham Hotel not only sits on the site of New Orleans founding father Jean Baptiste LeMoyne de Bienville’s former residence, but also is the former residence of Mr. James Caldwell, who built The St. Charles Theatre on Camp Street. The theatre caught fire in 1842 and Caldwell did his best to save the ornate pieces located in the theatre, by moving them into his home – The Pelham Manor, named after a famous actor of the time Mr. Alan Pelham. The remaining artifacts saved by Caldwell are currently housed in the lobby of The Pelham Hotel. New Orleans history lovers could save 15 percent off the hotel’s staycation offer during Labor Day weekend.
