Staying Connected with Your Family during Mardi Gras with Wearable Technology

This Carnival season, locals and visitors will download Mardi Gras parade tracker apps to locate parade routes and start times, as well as receive notifications for activities happening in the city. But what else can technology help you find?

Mardi Gras is a family-friendly atmosphere, but with thousands of people on the street, it is easy to get separated from family and friends. Today’s wearable technology can put parents at ease on the parade route, allowing young ones to immediately make calls when lost or scared without the use of a cell phone.

GizmoPal 2 by LG runs on the Verizon network and allows parents to locate their children using GPS technology and contact them with two-way communication. Children can make or answer a phone call with the touch of a button if they get separated from their group.

“GizmoPal 2 ensures communicating with your child is simple and fast. With the touch of a button, you can ensure that your family is within reach of one another,” said Verizon Mid-City Store Manager Whitney Nero.

Designed similarly to popular smartwatches, the GizmoPal 2 supports up to four contacts. Parents can seamlessly manage their child’s GizmoPal 2 with the GizmoHub app, available for installation on an Android or iOS device. You can let your children roam around at the parades without fear of losing them, thanks to a built-in GPS locator that notifies you in real time if your child strays from pre-set GPS boundaries.

“This durable, kid-friendly design is built to withstand the largest of Mardi Gras beads and flying moon pies. During Mardi Gras, rest assured and let the good times roll,” Nero said.
