For Gretchen Trauth, beautifying New Orleans is an all-encompassing passion and, including her philanthropic work with the Orpheum and Louisiana Philanthropic Orchestra, a 24/7 job. As CEO of Metairie-based ERG Enterprises, Gretchen’s work has led to key investments throughout the city, improving the lives not only of the millions of visitors but also of those who have always called it home. As their latest project, ERG Enterprises has transformed an 1850s Garden District Greek Revival mansion into “The Whit”, a luxury boutique hotel and salon that is truly the first of its kind. Inspired by the works of Walt Whitman and the lasting impression New Orleans had on his work, the hotel stands as a testament to ERG Enterprises and Gretchen’s passion for making New Orleans a better place.
