STEM NOLA’s STEM Fest and Health Fair Aug. 19

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – STEM NOLA, in collaboration with Johnson and Johnson and Ochsner Health, is organizing a free STEM FEST and Health Fair on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Joe W. Brown Park, 5601 Read Blvd., New Orleans, LA. This event has a dual purpose: it seeks to not only spark the curiosity of young minds in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), but also offers our community an opportunity to prioritize and assess their well-being and obtain health-related information at zero cost.

As a stop on the Johnson & Johnson My Health Can’t Wait campaign tour, this STEM FEST prioritizes community health for K-12 students and families. With 60+ hands-on STEM activities, it cultivates curiosity and career interests in medicine, engineering, and more. Highlights include medical simulations, virtual reality and artificial intelligence showcases, as well as activities like slime-making, drone flying, energy exploration, robot design, remote control car races, and tower building.

The health fair portion of the event will be open to all attendees. Johnson & Johnson, Ochsner Health and additional local health organizations will provide information and resources that will help support individuals on their healthcare journeys. Adult attendees will have access to free health screenings.

All materials will be provided upon arrival. This event is an opportunity for students to innovate, create and make with STEM professionals.

Since its founding in 2013, STEM NOLA has engaged more than 125,000 students, 20,000 families and 5,000 schools.
