Several years ago, Paula Richards designed and created all of the window treatments in her own home. Richards’ friends—and friends of friends—were so impressed by her work that they began to call her to make window treatments for their homes. Eventually, she established her business, Stewart-Richards Custom Window Treatments, in 2002. Stewart-Richards specializes in window treatments—curtains, shades, blinds and shutters—and bedding. The store also sells unique gifts and home accessories, and offers embroidery and monogramming services.
What can a customer find at your store?

We design, construct and install window treatments and bedding. The store has beautiful hand-painted tables and desks; hand-blown glass items, including salt and pepper shakers, vases and bowls; and features Kelley Colleen jewelry, Meau Glass and Studio 78 Furniture.
What are some trends that you’ve observed?
As people try to simplify their lives, they are also simplifying their surroundings. They are choosing more tailored looks for their window treatments.
