Strategic Planning

Twice a year, in January and June, New Orleans Bride magazine puts on its bridal show at the Hyatt Regency in downtown New Orleans. Each of these shows is designed to bring brides and grooms face-to-face with the cream of the crop wedding professionals from the greater New Orleans area.

No matter your reasons for attending – whether you’re the bride, the mother of the bride, the groom, or a member of the bridal party – it is extremely important to be prepared and not become overwhelmed. Everyone may have their own opinion on the topic or choose another plan of attack, but there are three main tips that we believe are the most important.

1) Bring your A-team:
Whomever you bring, whether it’s mom, dad or your best friend, they must be there to help and not pull you off course. Have someone there taking notes, helping to get contact information from vendors you like and maybe even take photographs of the displays or vendor booths you like the best.

2) Don’t waste time:
Have a concrete plan. Who do you need to see? Are you missing flowers? Think of the vendors you need to see so when you arrive you are not distracted by what you already have. That leads to second guessing and putting more stress on you and your fiance.

3) Bride Cards
More than likely, vendors will ask for your contact information. Instead of writing down your name and email address countless times, make either a bridal business card or pre-made address stickers to just rip and stick on their paper. Speaking of email, maybe consider creating a bridal email specifically for your wedding planning. Separating the emails will make them easier to spot and won’t put them in the middle of all of your work or personal emails.
