The 31st annual “Sugarplum Ball” took place on Friday, March 16, at the Garden District home of Mr. Gregor Fox. Holly Gordon and Erin Luetkemeier chaired the event benefiting Children’s Hospital. The event also paid tribute Ralph Brennan, a dedicated member of the Children’s Hospital board for 19 years.
Fox’s home was elaborately decorated with oversized statues from Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World. Local restaurants, including Drago’s, Arnaud’s, Domenica, Red Fish Grill, Trey Yuen Cuisine of China, Creole Creamery and Haydel’s Bakery provided food for the event. The “Mambo Maker” proved to be a popular specialty drink donated by the Sazerac Company and the Goldring Family Foundation.
Junior and Sumtin Sneaky with a special appearance by Rockin’ Dopsie played satisfying sounds for partygoers. A few of the favorable auction items included Wirthmore Antiques, custom-made dress shirts by Rubensteins, a Ketel One martini party, Lasik surgery and various vacation packages. A diamond necklace from Wellington & Company was raffled away to one lucky guest.
Over 650 guests attended this year’s “Sugarplum Ball.” Proceeds went to improving Children’s Hospital’s critical care transport service. Children’s Hospital remains the only full-service pediatric hospital in the state of Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast.
