Suits, Salads & Success

On September 9 supporters gathered at the annual Dress for Success “Suits and Salads Luncheon” to celebrate and contribute to the nonprofit’s cause at the Windsor Court Hotel. An auction preview and wine tasting by Landmark Vineyards preceded the sold out luncheon, where guest speaker Mary Matalin spoke. Co-chairs Daphne Berger, Lisa Biderman, CeCe Villere Colhoun and Lauren Hotard volunteered to lead the event for the second consecutive year. In addition to culinary delights, attendees enjoyed an auction, raising proceeds to benefit disadvantaged women hoping to emerge into the professional world. The proceeds will go solely to the women of Dress for Success. The New Orleans nonprofit knows just how meaningful a helping hand can be when times are tough. Dress for Success has been dressing New Orleans women in professional attire from head to toe since 1999 and helped about 7,000 women prior to Katrina. Like a majority of New Orleans, the boutique endured its own misfortunes when it lost everything from inventory to computers and donors as a result of the storm and reopened two and a half years later in 2008. Community support has allowed Dress for Success to thrive and help women flourish in the professional world.
