New Orleans and Thailand have a lot in common—Keith and Supreeya Scarmuzza would know, having both lived in these two regions known for their cuisine.

A native of Bangkok with a grandmother who grew her own herbs and made her own sauces, Supreeya grew up with a strong sense of what Thai cooking should be. Global travels showed her the appreciation people have for the cuisine around the world, and she dreamed of one day offering traditional Thai recipes with her own restaurant. After meeting in Bangkok, she and Keith, a New Orleans native and architect, returned to New Orleans and brought that vision to life in 2003.

“The flavors of our food are the way we remember our favorite places in Thailand, from hillside thatched huts in the north, to roadside stalls in the northeast or busy seafood markets down south, to Bangkok’s high-end specialty restaurants,” says Keith.

SukhoThai has been officially endorsed by the Royal Thai government as the only Thai Select Premium restaurant in Louisiana. Its extensive menu offers one of the city’s largest selections of noodles, curries, wok dishes, and vegan dishes.
