Amusical theater performing organization based on the campus of Tulane University, Summer Lyric Theatre’s mission is to preserve one of America’s greatest art forms by producing the highest quality musical theater. Each season the organization employs the talents of some 200 paid professionals and volunteers.

On June 19 the 41st season of Summer Lyric begins a presentation of three great musicals. Performances are at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. Sun. matinees. For updated information, please refer to the Web site or call the box office.

pal joey | June 19-22. The penultimate Rodgers & Hart collaboration. Many people will know Pal Joey from the Oscar-nominated film starring Frank Sinatra and the timeless songs “I Could Write a Book” and “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.” Directed by Summer Lyric Theatre’s Artistic Director B. Michael Howard, choreographed by Edmond Kresley, and starring Broadway veteran
Ian Carney.

li’l abner | July 10-13. The Tony Award-winning musical is pure entertainment. “If I Had My Druthers,” “Jubilation T. Cornpone,” “Namely You,” “Love in a Home” and “Progress is the Root of All Evil” will keep you laughing and wanting more. Directed by Diane Lala and choreographed by Edmond Kresley.

oklahoma! | July 31-Aug. 3.  Summer Lyric presents a version that is contemporary and timeless, tender, tough and sweet. Edmond Kresley will direct, with choreography by Matthew Neff (of the Broadway revival tour).
