Some spaces are meant to be discovered, not announced.

Hidden inside Tacos del Cartel New Orleans, a new Japanese concept is quietly preparing to open its doors. Sushi By Us, a creation by Veho Hospitality Group, arrives as an intimate, immersive dining experience born in Madrid, Spain, now finding its next expression in New Orleans — a city that understands layered culture, ritual, and storytelling through food.

This is not a restaurant you stumble into by accident. Sushi By Us reveals itself slowly, like a secret, unfolding with intention rather than urgency.

An Interior Designed to Transport

From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere shifts. The space is wrapped in deep ocean blues, accented with gold detailing, mirrored walls, and sculptural ceiling elements that evoke coral formations beneath the sea. Light reflects softly across the room, creating movement and depth, while carefully placed chandeliers cast a warm, almost cinematic glow.

Every chair, table, and surface is intentional. Upholstered seating, patterned tile floors, and ornate frames create a unique environment that feels luxurious without being overwhelming. It’s immersive, elegant, and unmistakably designed to engage the senses — sight first, then everything else.

This is not simply décor; the space itself becomes part of the experience, shaping the pace and mood of the evening.

A Menu That Balances Precision and Surprise

The culinary direction at Sushi By Us, led by Chef Johan Pereira, mirrors the space: refined, expressive, and deliberate. The menu moves confidently between classic Japanese technique and creative interpretations designed to surprise without losing balance.

Nigiri plays a central role, with standouts like Wagyu Nigiri, lightly charcoal-seared and finished with sea salt, and Salmon Nigiri, prized for its clean texture and freshness.

The rolls bring a more playful energy. The Fuji Roll, with snow crab, tobiko, and golden tempura shrimp, offers richness and crunch, while the Dinamita Roll layers grilled crab, crispy topping, and clarified butter for a bold, indulgent bite.

Beyond sushi, the menu expands into dishes that anchor the experience. Short Rib Bao, filled with braised short rib and black garlic purée, and Teriyaki Lamb, charcoal-grilled and deeply aromatic, reflect the kitchen’s willingness to move beyond expectations. The baos, in particular, are already earning attention for their deliciousness and sophistication.

Cocktails, Sake, and the Art of Pairing

The bar at Sushi by Us is as intentional as the kitchen. A curated selection of sake and wine lines the mirrored shelves, while the cocktail program explores unexpected combinations designed to complement, not distract.

Drinks like the Kaizen Negroni, fat-washed with sesame oil, and the Miso Harmony finished with Shiitake Mushroom, are designed to intrigue. These are cocktails built with the same philosophy as the food — layered, elegant, and memorable — inviting guests to slow down and stay present.

A Quieter Expression of Veho Hospitality Group

With Sushi By Us, Veho Hospitality Group introduces a quieter, more intimate side of its portfolio. Known for concepts that command attention, this project leans instead into restraint, detail, and immersion, offering a space where subtlety becomes the statement.

Sushi By Us is not about speed or spectacle. It is about presence.

The doors will open soon. And for those willing to look a little closer, a hidden Japanese salon awaits — designed to surprise the palate, the eye, and the senses.
