On Saturday, August 15, the 525 attendees of the Dress for Success benefit were dressed to impress at the annual fundraiser, held this year at Republic New Orleans.
In keeping with the organization’s commitment to promoting the economic and individual success of women throughout the metropolitan area, this year’s party was aptly titled “Savoir Faire.” The club was packed with pretty young things in cocktail dresses and sharply tailored suits, enjoying the evening’s signature drink, “LaVerne’s Suitini,” named for the nonprofit’s Chair of the Board of Directors, LaVerne Saulny. The evening played host to a runway show, with the newest collections of hip shoe designers Shane and Shawn Ward, Shop2728 and Rubenstein’s, with models from local “America’s next Top Model” alum and talent manager Wendy Wiltz. The Irvin Mayfield Quartet provided entertainment throughout the show. Emcees Eric Paulsen and Liz Reyes auctioned a one-of-a-kind painting by live artist Reggie, a work he created during the patron party held the previous Thursday for those involved with the party planning at the Uptown home of David Hunt.
Notable guests at the main event included Kim Kardashian, Travers Mackel, City Councilmembers Jackie Clarkson and Cynthia Willard-Lewis, Gary Solomon and Camille Whitworth. According to Board of Directors Vice President Lauren Hotard, “Savoire-Faire” raised a whopping $80,000 for the organization, and is pleased to say 100 percent of proceeds will benefit Dress for Success programs here in New Orleans.
