Roulaison Distilling Co-Founder Patrick Hernandez and Co-Chair Amanda Credeur
The Sylvain Society kicked off the 2020-2021 Opera Season with their annual “Summer Seersucker Soirée.” The virtual event was held on Saturday, August 22, via Sylvain Society’s Facebook live, streaming from Roulaison Distilling Co. in Mid-City, which also sponsored the fête.
The affair provided an entertaining virtual mixer for Sylvain members and friends, allowing patrons the opportunity to dress up in seersucker, socialize, learn how to make and mix drinks using rum from the Roulaison Distilling Co. and participate in a best dressed competition.
Gabriel Virdure served as the Seersucker Judge, awarding Kat Gilbreath the Best Dressed award. Dylan Tran won Rum Trivia, and the two winners were each given a bottle of Roulaison Cacao Rum. Maria Thomas, winner of the Opera trivia, won a Porgy & Bess mask from the New Orleans Opera Association.
Participants also learned how to make a cocktail named The Destin, which includes two ounces of Roulaison Cacao Rum, half an ounce of El Guapo Strawberry Syrup, half an ounce of lime juice and an ounce and a half of coconut water shaken with ice, poured and served with a lime garnish.
Andrew Lohfeld, Co-Founder of Roulaison Distilling Co., gave a tour of the distillery. Patrick Hernandez, Co-Founder of Roulaison Distilling Co., and Amanda Credeur, Co-Chair of the Sylvain Society, Co-Hosted the event. Together with Credeur, the 2020-2021 Sylvain Society Steering Committee and Seersucker Committee are Michael Rousel Jr. and Bianca Spears.
