Take a Stroll

Wine, food and fun on Royal Street with NOWFE.

Wine and food lovers descended upon Royal Street for the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience’s Royal Street Stroll on May 27. The event, which got into swing at 5:30 that evening, saw a host of wine and food vendors sharing their wares with the eager partiers. The 200 to 900 blocks were packed with revelers as they made their way down Royal Street, enjoying the sights, sounds and, of course, the food and wine.

Live jazz music filled the air, and numerous galleries and shops along the street were open for business. Rouse’s sponsored the event, and many other New Orleans area restaurants and markets provided ample food and drink. Those catering the event included Antoine’s, Bourbon House, Phil’s Grill and others.

The Krewe of Cork – dedicated to wine, food and fun – led the party as they paraded down Royal Street. The live music and free-flowing wine made for a spectacular evening of fun and frivolity.

NOWFE is nationally recognized as one of the greatest festivals of its kind. It isn’t all about the party, though, as NOWFE is a nonprofit organization whose proceeds directly benefit the New Orleans area. Beneficiaries of the 2010 event include The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation, The John Folse Culinary Institute, Cancer Crusaders and many more.
