Jefferson Parish residents were treated to notable dishes and delectable treats at the 9th annual Taste of the Town – A Premier Culinary Event at the Pavilion Island in Lafreniere Park.

Sponsored by Cadillac of Metairie, the event featured close to 50 local restaurants from the involvement with the Greater New Orleans Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association. Some of the area’s finest restaurants such as The Court of Two Sisters, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant, Galatoire’s and Mr. B’s Bistro served their signature dishes: Crawfish Louise, Charboiled Oysters, Shrimp Remoulade and Seared Scallops with Stone Grits, respectively.

The Archbishop Rummel High School Marching Band played while attendees were wetting their palettes at the beginning of the event. However, by the time guests were full to the brim of New Orleans cuisine, the Bucktown All-Stars led guests to get up and dance to their funk and R&B fusion to burn off a few extra calories from the night’s delicious catering.

This year’s event was attended by close to 1,300 people and Tommy Cvitanovich, the second-generation proprietor of Drago’s Restaurant, served as chair.

A portion of the proceeds went to The Patrons of Lafreniere Park, which was used to maintain and upgrade their facilities. The other portion goes to the Greater New Orleans Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association that benefits culinary education.
