The Theatres at Canal Place rolled out their red carpet for the 10th annual “Oscar Night New Orleans.” Laverne Osiris and Heather Reznick co-chaired the charitable viewing party of the 84th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 26. The event was one of 50 official Academy-sanctioned viewing parties nationwide.
Chef Adolfo Garcia of Gusto Café and Bar introduced a menu of noteworthy items such as grilled tuna topped with fresh salsa, rum shrimp with a side of pineapple salad, smoked salmon, duck skewers and almond paprika crusted pork. Sucré satisfied guests’ sweet tooth with a variety of chocolates and desserts. For those wanting to indulge their salty palates, a plethora of flavored popcorn was also provided.
Becky Allen and Marshall Harris entertained attendants while Jean Pierre and the Pocket Aces Brass Band provided locally inspired music.
The evening raised more than $53,000 for the American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana Chapter that assists more than 1.6 million residents across Louisiana. The American Red Cross is a volunteer organization that provides support, supplies and CPR education among numerous other ventures both domestically and abroad.
