Terri Goldsmith, Maison de Provence

On a whirlwind trip to Europe, Terri Goldsmth’s life was forever changed. While sourcing décor for her New Orleans French-inspired home, Goldsmith fell hopelessly in love with the beauty of classic French furniture. With so many beautiful pieces at her fingertips, the idea of Maison de Provence was born.

A Magazine Street antique shop, Maison de Provence directly imports 18th and 19th-Century French, Italian, and Swedish antiques hand-picked on Goldsmith’s multi-annual trips to Europe.

“Whether a fine period piece or just a fabulous rendition of a later one, it is the unique details of a hand crafted piece and an aged patina that I seek in my pursuit,” she says. Additionally, her interior decorating services offer another dimension to the furnishings available to clients at any stage of designing their dream home. Current design trends are incorporated in Maison de Provence’s selections, where Goldsmith has curated one of the most extensive and glamorous collections of mid-century coffee tables and bar carts in the country.

For Goldsmith, inspiration comes with every turn—an untraveled alley or unexpected doorway entrance, an architectural element, a textile remnant, a dealer’s collection of treasures, or almost anything anywhere.

“I love the process,” she says, “the dreaming, conceiving, the imagining.”
