The Ladies of Leukemia hosted its annual “Fête De Nöel” Christmas luncheon on December 15. At the event, co-chairs Christy Saladino and Terri Kloor presented three recipients a total of $105,000 in grant money allocated for leukemia research.

More than 1,300 attendants gathered at the New Orleans Riverside Hotel for the luncheon, fashion show and tree lighting ceremony. Guests munched on a catered meal provided by the hotel, which included a mesclun salad and roast loin of Alabama pork with a sugarcane bourbon glaze. The meal topped off with a sweet apple cranberry tart streusel for dessert.

Master of Ceremony, WDSU-TV’s Rosa Flores, engaged the audience while models, including top models Mr. Bingle and Santa Claus, wearing selected items from Dillard’s strutted the runway. A highlight of the event was Flores’ introduction of three young Children’s Hospital of New Orleans patients currently in remission from the disease. With the help of the supporters and volunteers of this year’s event and the events held over the past 40 years, the fêtes have raised more than $2.8 million in leukemia grant money.
