The Apples of Their Eyes

Good apples were glorified at the fourth annual Good Apple Gala benefiting the Louisiana Appleseed on Thursday, January 19, at The Chicory. A patron party preceded the gala. Event chair Betsy Regnell assisted in awarding this year’s Good Apple Honorees: Celeste Coco-Ewing, Kelsey Duncan, Christy Harowski, Harry S. Hardin III, Jackie McCreary and Louisiana State Senator Edwin Murray. The guests of honor received glass apple awards for their dedication to social justice.

Partygoers enjoyed catering compliments of The Chicory, which featured bacon-wrapped shrimp, a brie-and-crawfish dip and a variety of petite pastries. Republic National Distributing Company provided drinks for the evening. Dr. Michael White and his quartet filled The Chicory with the smooth sounds of their New Orleans Jazz. Dr. Joseph M. Zavatsky of Ochsner Spine Services at Ochsner Medical Center and wife, Cristi, were the winners of the silent auction’s grand prize, a Burgundy Wine Tasting guided by Ric Hopper at Hopper’s Carte des Vins. The gala also raffled off wines from The Grape to guests.

The Louisiana Appleseed encourages professionals to volunteer their time to achieve social justice by addressing the sources of injustice. Their projects “seek to increase access to education, opportunity, and justice.”
