Jason Wiese is curator and associate director for the Williams Research Center at The Historic New Orleans Collection. On January 23 and 24, 2015, The Historic New Orleans Collection will sponsor a two-day symposium that will explore the War of 1812, with specific focus on the Gulf Coast and New Orleans areas. The military action in 1815 that ended this period of conflict was the historic Battle of New Orleans. In this podcast, Jason draws upon his wealth of historical knowledge to describe the challenges the British troops faced as they made their way up river. He also explains the obstacles Andrew Jackson encountered as he tried to organize troops who did not all speak English.
