Hindsight being 20/20, our family’s snow-day outfit choices were a disaster. The kids rose at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning with high hopes and an imaginary version of what snow accessories might be required. The improvised gear included Dad’s wool work socks inside sneakers and makeshift plastic bag gloves, both of which didn’t take long to fail miserably. One child lost a shoe in a quicksand-like snow mound and had to walk home barefoot for several blocks. He still hasn’t forgiven me. The “bag hands” hack fell apart as soon as the rubber band attachment snapped off, leaving us only to watch other, better-prepared friends enjoy building snowmen. Despite the whining and chaos, we still managed to have plenty of fun, but next time, we’ll be ready for you snow!
