Blossoms of art and social events were budding in full effect at the 22nd annual “Art in Bloom,” held at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Presented by NOMA and the Garden Study Club of New Orleans, the event took on the theme, “A Green Orleans,” and featured a lecture series by Spruce Eco Studio called, “Green Intervention: A Discussion on Design Ideas to Green Your Lifestyle” that talked about floral and event design for parties at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and parties across the world.

At the patron and preview party, held on March 24th, guests were entertained with music by ck3 and got a sneak-peak at the latest Ippolita jewelry collection from Saks Fifth Avenue. Guests were also the first to view the floral designs dispersed throughout the museum and to taste food from more than 30 New Orleans restaurants including Dooky Chase, Luke’s, Café Raini and Arnaud’s.

But that wasn’t all. Art lovers participated in live and silent auctions during the preview party. Featured items included an original oil piece by Nicole Charbonnet that was on the cover of the invitation from the live auction, and art from local, regional and national artists including a sculpture and two-dimensional art from the silent auction.

Sponsors for the event included Flower Magazine, Saks Fifth Avenue, Superior Energy Services, The Lupin Foundation, First NBC and Harrah’s New Orleans, among several others. All proceeds from the event benefitted the educational projects and exhibitions of NOMA and the community projects of the Garden Study Club of New Orleans, including the New Orleans Botanical Garden, Beauregard-Keyes House, Parkway Partners, the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Longue Vue House and Gardens and the Herman-Grima and Gallier Historic Houses.
