Jack Stewart is co-author of There's One In Your Neighborhood: Lost Movie Theaters of New Orleans. Stewart collaborated with movie theatre expert and entrepreneur, René Brunet, Jr., to create this wonderful book that describes many of New Orleans movie theaters from the past, and recounts their stories. Although most of New Orleans' neighborhood movie theaters are now only nostalgic memories, Stewart points out that going to the movies years ago was a family affair. The many movie houses throughout the city were places where moviegoers could see friends from their neighborhoods. Stewart explains why he thinks New Orleans had more neighborhood theaters than many other American cities, and why we have so few today. Listen to the podcast here.
