Dr. Mark W. Stalder is one of the premier reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeons in the Greater New Orleans area.
Having earned his medical degree and completed residency training locally at the LSU School of Medicine, Dr. Stalder is renowned for his work on the post-mastectomy treatment of breast cancer patients. An expert in comprehensive breast reconstruction, Dr. Stalder specializes in procedures that recreate the breast using a patient’s own tissue harvested from different donor sites such as the thighs, hips, or abdomen.
Women are often overwhelmed by a breast cancer diagnosis and the details of their treatment to follow. While often a necessary part of breast cancer treatment, a mastectomy can leave women feeling incomplete and insecure. Breast reconstruction helps breast cancer survivors address the physical, emotional, and psychological ramifications that often result from their cancer treatment, allowing them to feel whole again.
With over 10 years of experience, Dr. Stalder is able to adopt a patient-specific approach to developing each unique surgical plan. While the abdominal DIEP procedure is the gold standard for most patients, there are many circumstances that may require an alternative approach. These techniques are nuanced, sophisticated microsurgical procedures that help patients regain aesthetically pleasing, natural breasts following their treatment.
Dr. Stalder is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member in good standing of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
