NOLANETS is a multidisciplinary, multi-state, academic subspecialty cancer program that addresses Rare Cancers, including primary and metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. Each year, over 2,400 patients travel to New Orleans for care from world-class neuroendocrine sub-specialists: Dr. Maluccio, Dr. Boudreaux, Dr. Limbach, and Dr. Thiagarajan.
Providing a safety net for patients with unusual cancer diagnoses throughout the South, NOLANETS is made up of physicians, nurses, dietitians, and scientists with dedicated experience and knowledge to help patients receive the best care for neuroendocrine cancer. With decades of surgical oncology experience, NOLANETS also features the largest theragnostic and histotripsy program in the Southern US, using targeted radiation particles (PRRT) or pulsed ultrasound cavitation to translate diagnostic information into effective cancer treatment.
Specializing in minimally invasive treatments, NOLANETS is also a leader in translational research and clinical trials. In collaboration with national and international experts striving to improve knowledge of neuroendocrine cancer etiology, risk factors, and treatments, Director Dr. Skill, PhD., and his colleagues are actively developing new and novel targets, screening pharmaceuticals, and mentoring the next generation of physician-scientists. Meanwhile, Dr. Bren Mattison, PhD., is developing novel treatment options for neuroendocrine patients within the Gulf South through clinical trials and active programs addressing barriers to treatment by leveraging industry sponsors to bring new treatment to neuroendocrine patients.
