NOLA Detox is proud to be the largest and most comprehensive private addiction treatment provider in the New Orleans area. Founders Dan Forman and Chris Copeland are determined to show that addiction is highly treatable and that Louisiana is a great place to be sober. Both in long-term recovery, Dan and Chris have made it their mission to provide New Orleans and the Gulf South with quality treatment options that incorporate hospitality, kindness, compassion, and next-level comfort for those struggling with substance use disorders.
“Louisiana is at the center of the national opioid epidemic—NOLA Detox was created in response to this crisis as a local solution for anyone needing help to recover from alcohol or drug addiction,” says Forman. “We provide unparalleled medical and clinical interventions to create the foundation for a lifetime of recovery.”
The unique approach of combining exceptional clinical and psychiatric care with New Orleans-style hospitality distinguishes this nationally accredited program from others. NOLA Detox is a preferred in-network provider with all major insurance companies and has a partnership with Tulane Medical School, ensuring that all patients receive care from physicians with experience in addiction treatment. The facility offers inpatient detoxification, extended residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, medication management services, and sober living. By summer 2025, NOLA Detox will expand its services with the opening of a new 40-bed inpatient detox and outpatient program in Slidell, further increasing access to quality care across Southeast Louisiana.
While in treatment, patients can expect real comfort at NOLA Detox. Residential suites can include hotel-style, queen-sized, pillow-top mattresses and 40” televisions. Amenities like nightly fresh-baked cookies, curated restaurant menus by Copeland’s Restaurant, and special events like crawfish boils and food truck parties add to its appeal.
“By providing a little bit of lagniappe, we keep our patients in treatment longer, which then improves outcomes,” says Copeland. “Our doors are open to everyone. We want everyone to know there’s hope, and it is possible to enjoy life again in recovery.”
One of the most inspiring aspects of NOLA Detox is that many staff members are in recovery themselves or are former patients. Their lived experience brings an unmatched level of empathy, authenticity, and hope to the care they provide. They know what it’s like to be on the other side of the process, and that makes all the difference. It creates a culture where patients feel truly understood, supported, and believed in. It’s one of the most meaningful and unique elements of what makes NOLA Detox so effective.
