There’s nothing like staying in someone else’s home to get the wheels turning with ideas to update your own. Experiencing the way others live their daily lives is always inspiring. After spending time in a rental home on 30A over Mardi Gras break, I couldn’t help but leave with a nagging question. Why does a childish sense of fun have to be banished to vacation homes only? Impromptu fun should be easily accessible! Why not surround your home with playful things? Fun can happen at any time and any age! The home we stayed in not only had a stocked game cabinet, but there were also games placed throughout in plain sight. Let an art-inspired puzzle or pretty chess set on your coffee table serve as a reminder that a rainy day can mean more than TV. A well camouflaged dartboard or cornhole set can keep kids, and adults alike, occupied in the competitive spirit every day of the week! And of course, if the wine is flowing, nothing is more glorious than seeing grown-ups play silly games and potentially make fools of themselves (the kids are fun to watch too). Our homes should be a place of rest and relaxation, but sometimes you need a vacation to remember to add some of the laughter and fun!
