Dill smoked salmon mousse, white fish ceviche and Louisiana lacquered duck with orange coffee aloha sauce were just some of the dinner dishes paired with complementing wines at the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana’s 20th annual Celebrity Chef Gift of Life Gala.

About 250 guests enjoyed catering from local restaurants including Andrea’s Catch, Chateau du Lac, La Côte Brasserie, Maurice French Pastries, Rambla, Shula’s Steakhouse, Vincent’s Italian Cuisine and West Indies Catering.

While guests filled their stomachs, David Batiste and the Gladiators filled their ears with blues and funk rhythms throughout the night. And from music to materials, guests enjoyed more than 75 silent auction items including hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, spa packages, jewelry and handmade one-of-a-kind sculptures. Also, a live auction featured a Florida Get Away trip, a Rodrigue painting signed by Drew Brees, Saints first home game tickets and an autographed 2010 Saints football.

Board member Michael D. Williams Sr. was honored with the Julio Figueroa Award for helping the Kidney Foundation meet its mission by participation, exemplary service and outstanding leadership. Sponsors included the New Orleans Marriott at the Convention Center and Angela Westbrook.

The National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana is dedicated to the eradication of kidney and urological diseases and provides direct patient services, conducts public and professional health education seminars and funds research. All donations from this event will go to the Foundation for the advancement of its services and research.
