Come one, come all to the Big Top Ball! On Saturday, March 20, attendees of the 2010 Sugarplum Ball were treated to a lavish circus-themed event benefitting Children’s Hospital. Ringmasters, or co-chairs, Mathilde Currence and Courtney Le Clercq brought the Big Top to the Big Easy, leading a black-tie gala at the Children’s Hospital Calhoun Campus.

The “show” began at 7 p.m., with a stilt walker, a juggler and clown greeting more than 550 guests. Partygoers enjoyed the music of The Bucktown Allstars, as well as escargot from Galatoire’s, shrimp from Arnaud’s, duck and andouille gumbo from LaCôte Brasserie, Lucky Dog hot dogs and Haydel’s sweets, not to mention custom Cotton Candy Cocktails courtesy of Republic National Distributing Company.

Bidders enjoyed the several silent auction tables, including prizes such as artwork, golf packages, vacations and home improvement items. This year’s Ball benefited the LaNasa-Greco Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital and also paid tribute to honoree Dr. Stephen Levine, who has served Children’s Hospital for nearly 30 years.
