At this year’s 32nd Annual Howling Success Patron Party & Gala benefitting The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, co-chairs Scott Discon, Bridget Higgenbotham and Robin Roussel-Young took attendees back to the Roaring 1940s at the River City Ballroom at Mardi Gras World.

Local artists Anais St. John and Swingaroux entertained the crowd of more than 1,000, and restaurant chairs Dickie and Leslie Brennan provided delicious local cuisine from places like Broussard’s, Gautreau’s and Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse. As patrons munched on hors d’oeuvres and drank cocktails, bids were placed at silent and live auctions.

Celebrity chairs included actors Christian LeBlanc and Bryan Batt as well as First Lady Supriya Jindal. The event awarded Anderson Cooper and his AC360 team with the Humanitarian Award for their coverage of animals affected by the BP/Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.

Every year, the Louisiana SPCA provides basic medical services and care for about 11,000 animals living in the state.

Founded in 1888, the organization is the oldest animal welfare program in the state. The Gala brings in about 10 percent of the yearly operating budget.
