The National WWII Museum Commemorates the 78th Anniversary of D-Day

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The National WWII Museum will mark the 78th anniversary of D-Day and 22nd birthday of the Museum on Monday, June 6, 2022, highlighted by the on-campus Dr. Hal Baumgarten D-Day Commemoration Ceremony in US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center. The event will be in-person and available for viewing online and is sponsored by the Museum and the Baumgarten family.

There will be scarf giveaways for veterans visiting the Museum during the morning courtesy of our Knit Your Bit initiative, with over 10,000 knitters and crocheters participating throughout all 50 states.

The D-Day commemorative programming will conclude with a special lecture with editor Emma Soames, granddaughter of Winston Churchill. Join her as she details the private diaries of her mother, Mary, Winston’s youngest daughter.
