The Rink Introduces “Rockin’ Around the Rink”
NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Rink and its tenants are thrilled to introduce “Rockin’ Around The Rink,” a collaborative shopping and entertainment program that will be hosted each Saturday through the month of December. The Rink, a collection of unique shops and select offices in the heart of the Garden District, has been a New Orleans staple since 1884.
“Rockin’ Around The Rink” is the ideal way to get a jump start on your local holiday shopping and have fun while at it. The October installment of “Rockin’ Around The Rink” will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and feature a storytime from The Garden District Book Shop and offerings from various tenants.
Programming for the month of November and December will be released in the coming weeks. The Rink’s tenants are a tight-knit, supportive community and they look forward to hosting these interactive programs for the people of New Orleans.
OCTOBER 9 | SPOOKY STORYTIME AND SHOPPING WITH JUDY | 10:30 a.m.
It is officially spooky season! The Garden District Book Shop will have a festive storytime at 11 a.m. featuring Hallowween favorites and “Color Zoo” by Lois Ehler. Guests will also be able to make their own Halloween masks in the Children’s Room. Judy has a vast array of Halloween decor for shoppers to peruse and, with the purchase of a Halloween mug, shoppers can also enjoy a free cup or iced or hot coffee from Still Perkin’. The coffee shop will also feature spooky pastries and treats for all.
OCTOBER 16 | 12 DAYS OF MARDI GRAS | 10:30 a.m.
Since we all miss celebrating Mardi Gras, the Rink will host an interactive Mardi Gras storytime and activity day on October 16. Guests are encouraged to come in their Mardi Gras gear, shop and enjoy the tenants passing out beads, a face and animal painting station and a reading and book signing of “12 Days of Mardi Gras” from local author Melissa Thibault. The book reading will begin at 11 a.m. Still Perkin’ will also feature festive Mardi Gras cupcakes and more for guests to enjoy.
OCTOBER 23 | SLEEPY STORYTIME WITH MAISONETTE | 10:30 a.m.
No need to change out of your PJs this Saturday morning, just roll out of bed and head over to The Rink. The Rink will be hosting a pajama party and storytime for all to enjoy. The Garden District Book Shop will feature readings of “Good Night Gorilla,” “Good Night, Peter,” “Good Night, Good Night” and “Lama Lama Red Pajama” beginning at 11 a.m. Guests will also enjoy a movement game of Simon Says. Still Perkin’ will also feature steamers, warm milk flavored for kids, for kids to enjoy.
OCTOBER 30| TRICK OR TREAT AT THE RINK | 10:30 a.m.
Celebrate Halloween weekend at The Rink! Each shop will hand out special treats as guests Trick or Treat around The Rink. There will also be plenty of Halloween themed books, toys and more for all to shop. A spooky storytime will also be hosted at 11 a.m. in The Garden District Book Shop and Still Perkin’ will feature spooky sweet treats until they run out.
All state-mandated COVID safety protocols will be in place. Masks are required. Proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of the event is required for entry.
