NEW ORLEANS (press release) – On Friday, Oct. 8, The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, invites locals and visitors alike to break out their best lederhosen and dirndl to celebrate Oktoberfest, New Orleans-style, in partnership with local brewery, NOLA Brewing, at the luxury property’s stunning rooftop pool.
From 4 – 7 p.m., revelers can cheer, “Prost,” poolside with a cold beer in hand. There is no entry price, and guests can enjoy $30 pitchers of all seasonal beers.
“To usher in fall and commemorate our German roots, we wanted to bring a taste of Munich and Oktoberfest to the streets of New Orleans this October,” said Director of Outlets Justin Sugerman. “We are thrilled to be partnering with a local favorite in NOLA Brewing for this exciting event and look forward to welcoming visitors to our beautiful rooftop pool to join in the festivities.”
NOLA Brewing’s Darkest Before Dawn dark lager (Dunkel) is the official beer of the celebration. Darkest Before Dawn is a European-style lager that holds a rich, malty taste with notes of sweet chocolate and caramel in every sip. The beer was released on the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall, as a poignant reminder that it’s always darkest before dawn.
Other fall seasonal brews include NOLA Brewing’s Urban South Oktoberfest and Radler beers. German-inspired food specials such as pretzels and beer cheese and bratwursts will also be available for sale.
The Roosevelt’s Oktoberfest beer festival pays homage to the hotel’s German heritage. The property was built by German immigrant Louis Grunewald, who opened the hotel in 1893 as “The Hotel Grunewald.” The Hotel Grunewald featured “The Cave” – a grotto-style nightclub, filled with architectural rock formations, nymphs, and gnomes, where guests partied into the night, dancing to the sounds of traditional jazz.
