The Roosevelt New Orleans Lights Up with Another Dazzling Holiday Season

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Starting in late November, guests can deck the halls and don the season’s best at The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The hotel will soon kick off its highly anticipated and beloved holiday tradition with special programming, packages and spectacular décor to celebrate the magic of the season in luxurious style.

“Our hotel guests, New Orleanians and tourists from all over the world come to The Roosevelt at this time of year because it is truly the brightest, most brilliant place to bring out the holiday spirit,” said Tod Chambers, general manager, The Roosevelt New Orleans. “From our Teddy Bear Tea and the lighting of the Waldorf Wonderland to our stunning décor and rich programming, our hotel has become an important part of longstanding holiday traditions for many families. The sense of joy and magic at The Roosevelt is palpable at the holidays, and we are honored to share it with our community.”

Dazzling Décor

To celebrate the start of the New Orleans holiday season, on November 28, The Roosevelt will unveil the hotel’s spectacular, block-long holiday décor. This year, New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Mickey Loomis will help “flip the switch” in a ceremonial lighting of more than 112,000 lights to reveal 1,600 feet of garland and 4,000 glass ornaments adorning the beloved Waldorf Wonderland in the hotel’s grand lobby. Visitors from near and far are welcome to take in the sights and sounds of the Crescent City’s go-to hotel for seasonal festivities and enjoy the Sazerac Bar’s annual handcrafted holiday season libations: the Christmas Cookie featuring Stoli vodka, cream, brown sugar syrup and sprinkles; and the Candy Cane, made with Rumple Minze, white crème de cacao, cream and raspberry syrup.

Festive Food and Beverage Experiences

Perfect for families, Teddy’s Café will feature holiday pastries, specialty coffees and hot chocolate, making it an ideal place to enjoy the sights and sounds of the festive lobby while noshing on seasonal treats throughout December.

For foodies, The Fountain Lounge offers a four-course Réveillon Dinner from Dec. 1-24, part of a centuries-old New Orleans custom of long, celebratory meals families traditionally held on Christmas and New Year’s Eve into the wee hours of the morning. The Roosevelt has adapted the tradition to regular dining hours but will keep the indulgent local touches. Mouth-watering menu items include, for starters, baked Gulf oysters with sauce Mornay, lump crab and herb crumbs or crispy sweet bread lettuce wraps with jalapeno jelly, pickled vegetables and fresh herb salad.
