The Royal Treatment

The first fundraiser since Hurricane Katrina for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater New Orleans was a regal affair. On June 16, special guest Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York—who is also the International Ambassador for the group—joined guests for a high tea at the JW Marriott Hotel.

Ferguson and more than 400 guests enjoyed a variety of delectable sandwiches and special teas. As a show of Southern hospitality, each table was adorned with arrangements of Ferguson’s favorite flowers: white roses, irises, lilies and sweet peas. WDSU meteorologist Margaret Orr emceed the event, and the Children’s Suzuki choir and a local jazz band gave live musical performances throughout the afternoon. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a home away from home for the families of seriously ill children, along with other programs.
