Groups of art patrons rode in mule-drawn carriages through the streets of New Orleans on March 1, for the Ogden Museum of Southern Art’s second annual O-Mazing Race. Put on by Kohlmeyer Circle, a group of young professionals and museum supporters, the O-Mazing Race scavenger hunt had art aficionados racing through downtown New Orleans in search of clues stashed at various locations.
Clues were stashed at places of interest including Julia Street art galleries, the French Quarter wedding chapel (where participants had to dress for an impromptu wedding photo), the Wine Institute of New Orleans and the W Hotel.
Team “Rajun Cajuns” won first place, while “May Bailey’s Consorts – Giving the Big O” took second – not to mention a costume contest win! “Team Turmoil” rounded out the top three in the bronze medal slot.
The final stop for the evening was Republic New Orleans, where dedicated hunters could cease their searching and celebrate with drinks and dancing.
Event sponsors included Republic National Distributing Co., the Goldring Family Foundation, the W Hotel and Dirty Coast. The Loews Hotel, Café Adelaide, the Ralph Brennan Restaurant group and Antoine’s restaurant contributed prizes.
