The Second Annual Renaissance Awards

New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles and the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans recognize five historically sensitive home renovations and two business icons.

New Orleans Homes like the people who inhabit them, are as unique as the city itself. Walking through the city’s neighborhoods is like walking through more than 300 years of history, and the different cultural influences that inspired each individual home are palpable. When Katrina destroyed so many of our homes, our heritage was in crisis: Whether to rebuild or start fresh was the question on many minds.

Thankfully many dedicated New Orleanians chose the former option and spent their time, money and sanity restoring their homes to their full glory. The Preservation Resource Center was a beacon of hope for those rebuilding and fought for New Orleans’ original architecture. For the second annual Renaissance Awards, New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles and the PRC have partnered again to honor five homeowners and two business icons from all around the city, all of whom diligently restored their homes and businesses while respecting their histories and personalities.

This year’s winners will be honored at a luncheon on Oct. 27 at The Roosevelt New Orleans hotel, where Donovan Rypkema will be the keynote speaker. Rypkema is a longtime consultant for the National Trust for Historic Preservation and an industry leader in the economics of preserving historic structures.
