The Family Service of Greater New Orleans’ “Ten Outstanding Persons Gala” took place on Oct. 21 at the Audubon Tea Room. The gala is held to recognize ten people in the community for their civic, volunteer and charitable contributions. This year’s honorees were Edgar “Pepper” Bright Jr., Martha Caruso, Arnold Fielkow, Sylvia Guillot, Edith Gee Jones, Nancy Marsiglia, Dr. John Ochsner, Dan Packer, Eugene Priestley and Carol Wise.
Following the cocktail party held earlier in the evening, the elegant, black-tie event was emceed by WWL-TV’s Meg Farris, and boasted a gourmet dinner of veal scallops with lump crabmeat and crème brûlée in a puff pastry. The Last Straws entertained the crowds as they browsed the silent auction tables. Items included tickets to a New Orleans Saints game in Arnold Fielkow’s private box, a wire sculpture by Steve Martin, a Raymond Weil watch donated by Robert Normann Diamond Jewelers and a party at the Audubon Tea Room.
