NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Wilmer Wilson, among the eleven artists represented in the exhibition Bodies of Knowledge, will discuss his video installation Black Mask, along with a series of travelogue books created from his Running Tour performances, during Friday Nights at NOMA on Oct. 4. Arrive early and stay late for the full lineup of events:

Artists Choice Film series concludes with the blockbuster 1980 movie Fame
In conjunction with
Bodies of Knowledge, represented artists were asked to select a movie that has inspired their practice. The final selection, the original movie
Fame(1980 | Rated R | 2 hours, 14 minutes), chosen by performance artist Edward Spots, will screen on
Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m.
Fame tells the story of aspiring students facing trials and triumphs as they work their way through New York’s High School of Performing Arts.
Safar concert series concludes with group concert on Sunday, Oct. 13
New Orleans-based Moroccan musician Mahmoud Chouki will perform with bassist and luthier Martin Masakowski for a Safar concert blending Eastern and Western music traditions on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. (free with museum admission).
As a grand finale, Chouki has invited nine musicians to collaborate in a closing concert for
Bodies of Knowledge on
Sunday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 NOMA Members | $20 Nonmembers.

Wellness Classes among the artworks
NOMA, in collaboration with East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning and Monday evening.
