Sports and a soirée—an unlikely mix, but one that worked for the Chartwell Center, which hosted the “Louisiana Clays and Golf Classic” on Feb. 26. The day started with a sporting clays competition at High Point in Belle Chase, then a 1 p.m. shotgun-start golf tournament at Audubon Golf Club. The shoot and tournament were followed by a Cajun Night Gala with live and silent auctions—emceed by Dennis Woltering—at the Garden District home of Linda and Tommy Westfeldt. Among the many auction items were a Jean Lafitte Swamp tour for six conducted by New Orleans Paddlewheels, a guided fishing trip for four with Capt. Dee Geoghegan, microdermabrasion from Dr. Sharon Meyer at Uptown Dermatology & Aesthethics, and lunch at Antoine’s.
Proceeds from the event support the Center, a teaching facility for children ages three to 12 with autism and related disorders, and to offer training and technical support to teachers and other professionals. •
