COVINGTON, La (press release) – The Three Rivers Art Festival, one of the most popular juried art festivals in the Southeast region, will return to Covington’s Cultural Arts District for its 26th year on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 & 13, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free!
Each year, Three Rivers draws 50,000+ art lovers to Downtown Covington to shop the work of talented artists from all over the United States. Over the past two decades, Three Rivers has grown from a celebration of 49 artists to more than 200 exhibitors and a variety of other features including a live music tent, live art demonstrations, local food vendors and a children’s activity area. Spread across five city blocks of Columbia Street, the festival features artist tents with work ranging from painting to metalwork and everything in between. The festival also hosts a student art competition featuring more than 400 works of art created by talented local youth, inspiring and encouraging children of all ages to experiment with and create art.
“Three Rivers celebrates the arts in all its forms – visual art, music, performance and more – and brings some of the best art- ists in the country to showcase their work here on the Northshore,” says Three Rivers Art Festival Coordinator Sarada Bon- nett. “We are thrilled to celebrate 26 incredible years for our festival in our uniquely artistic community of Covington!”
An exciting addition to the 2022 festival is the participation of world-renowned artist and native New Orleanian Terrance Os- borne, who will be doing live art demonstrations inside the Arts Alive! tent. Osborne’s 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2018 Offi- cial Jazz & Heritage Festival Posters are a handful of the most collected posters in the world. In 2006, Osborne gained part- nerships with Nike to design a poster and the first New Orleans Air Force 1 tennis shoe. Osborne’s partnerships continued over the years with companies like NBA, Coca-Cola, Heineken, and Coup De Fondré Winery. His New Orleans art gallery, which opened in 2017, remains one of the top galleries in the city.
Adding to the weekend’s festivities, Three Rivers will once again host a free public concert at the Covington Trailhead (419 N. New Hampshire Street) on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 5:15 to 9:30 p.m. The concert will feature Maddi Tripp (5:15 – 6:30 p.m.), followed by Tyler Kinchen & The Right Pieces (8-9:30 p.m.). In between each performance, the artist awards ceremony will take place.
