Tile by Tile: Nick Hasslock Memorializes Katrina

A New Orleans Voices Interview

Nick Hasslock is owner of New Orleans Tile. Nick usually spends his time creating the distinctive tile street names that identify many street corners throughout New Orleans. As we approach the sixth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, however, Nick is taking time from his tile business to complete a very special new project. He has been working long hours at no charge for many months to create a Katrina memorial wall to commemorate the lives of those who perished in the storm.  The Katrina memorial wall is located on the front of the Saratoga Building at the corner of Loyola Avenue and Common Street in downtown New Orleans. Nick explains how the project came to be. Listen here!
