To Catch a Crook

Crimestoppers Carnivale fashionably facilitates.

Good food, good drinks and good cheer abounded at the Crimestoppers Carnivale fundraising event. Benefitting the Crimestoppers Hotline, festivities kicked of on Tuesday, September 22 at the beautiful Uptown home of Mr. and Mrs. James McPhaille for the Patron Party. Jeremy Davenport provided entertainment for the 300 guests; that is, if they weren’t distracted by the tempting morsels prepared by Donald Link! New Orleans Saint Scott Fujita and Irvin Mayfield were the honorary co-chairs of the event, and a trip to Anacapri, Italy went to the highest bidder in a decadent silent auction.

The following Saturday, September 26 the spectacular Carnivale was held at Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World, where 700 attendees enjoyed food from more than 30 restaurants and live entertainment by Tic Douloureux and Passport.

Chairmen of the event were Paul Varisco, Susan Coco and Pam Schafer. Honorary chairs were Councilwomen Jackie Clarkson and Cynthia Hedge-Morrell, along with Councilman Chris Roberts and Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng.

Retired Saints player Steve Gleason also made an appearance as the night’s special guest. A signed guitar from The Eagles and a signed violin from the cast of The Sopranos were just two of the fabulous items up for auction. The combined events raised an estimated $100,000 for Crimestoppers.
