Here is our attempt to identify the best local hospitals, at least from the patients’ perspective.
There is only one source for patient evaluation of hospitals, and that’s Medicare. Using the agency’s data, we compiled a list of those hospitals within the region that when more than 100 patients were surveyed received a positive response from at least 50 percent when asked if they would “definitely recommend the hospital.”
Listed here are those top-rated Louisiana hospitals within a 100-mile radius of New Orleans, excluding Baton Rouge.
• “Patient Rating” stands for percentage of “Patients who gave their hospital a rating of 9 or 10 on a scale from 0 (lowest) to 10 (highest).”
•“Recommendation Percentage” represents “Patients who reported that “Yes,” they would definitely recommend the hospital.”
