On October 14, Family Service of Greater New Orleans honored 10 New Orleanians for their civic, volunteer and charitable contributions to the city. The 37th annual “Ten Outstanding Persons Gala” was held at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters in City Park from 6 to 10 p.m.
The 10 honorees were: E. Renae Conley, Dr. Michael Cowan, Dr. Peter DeBlieux, Meg Farris, D. Blair Favrot, Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman, Justice Bernette J. Johnson, Jan Maselli Mann, Wendell Pierce and George Rodrigue. Sr. Eileen Sullivan SBS was honored posthumously.
The event, chaired by Skye McLeod and Sheryll Cascio, featured WWL-TV reporter Katie Moore as Mistress of Ceremonies and music from The Last Straws.
Family Service of Greater New Orleans, a United Way organization, serviced more than 9,500 New Orleanians last year and hopes to top that number this year.
