It’s the week before Christmas in New Orleans and, true to form, nothing is slowing down around the city. Highlighted below are a few of the bigger or interesting events happening in the next week.
This Sunday, all are invited to share in Christmas cheer and sing along during the annual Caroling in Jackson Square. Everyone that enters the square receives a candle and a songbook. Starting at 7 p.m., the event is free and open to all who are interested. As someone who frequently attends this event, it is suggested to arrive early because of the amount of people that attend.
There are countless locations around the city to view spectacular Christmas lights. The Roosevelt Hotel, recently named a top hotel in the country by USA Today, is famous for its lobby holiday display, as well as simply driving along St. Charles Avenue, heading to City Park for its annual Celebration in the Oaks, and the Miracle on Fulton Street display. In addition to the pretty sights, Miracle on Fulton has special happenings Friday and Saturday nights. Tonight, not only can guests take pictures with Santa, but you can also enjoy a performance by Charmaine Neville at 7 p.m. Tomorrow night, Dec. 21, Benny Grunch and the Bunch will close out the live performances at 7 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
If you’re looking for a more adult-friendly experience, we suggest taking in the Christmas-themed drinks and fun times at Barrel Proof or Longway Tavern, both of which are hosting the Miracle holiday pop-up. Additionally, Barcadia hosts Christmas at Barcadia until Jan. 5, 2020. All three experiences include themed drinks and food, and full decorative transformations.
Happy Holidays!
